My family has been taking lessons through Tranquilo Surf since 2007, when my youngest child was only 8 years old. Our time surfing quickly became one of the highlights of our Punta Mita stay.
On and off the boards, Josué and his team show a genuine interest in getting to know their clients. They are well-organized, yet flexible enough to work around their clients’ needs … and the waves, of course! Though they put safety above everything else, the Tranquilo crew still seems to catch more waves than anyone else on the water. Surfing with Tranquilo is an experience not to be missed.
My wife, son, and I took surf lessons with Tranquilo Surf during our last vacation to Puerto Vallarta. Josue and his crew did a fantastic job! The Tranquilo team taught us the skills we needed to have all of us get up and ride some waves.
I was so excited and proud to see my seven year old son get up multiple times. Josue even had a GoPro and recorded my son shredding and then sent it to me. He knew it was a special moment for me and made sure I got the video clip. This wasn’t an up-sale by the way. I believe Josue was genuinely interested in my family getting the most enjoyment out of the event as possible.
I am so thankful to have been introduced to surfing through Tranquilo Surf. Such Gentlemen; Josue, Chano, Isaac, Johnny and Juan are competent, compassionate and patient Instructors – they not only taught us to surf, but to Love to surf!
In December of 2013 – 13 women ages 38-60, traveled to Punta Mita for lessons. Every one of us was riding a wave within the first ½ hour on the water! I was hooked, and back 3 months later with my 16 year old son for more lessons!
The Tranquilo Surf team of locals is so professional and tuned in. They understand the dynamic surf terrain in the area and would take us to the perfect location for the best waves to suit our abilities. Tranquilo had a variety of boards for different levels – and all the equipment we needed (booties, rash guards, wet suits … sunscreen).
Surfing can be almost life-changing. Prior to my lessons I had a deep fear of the ocean. With Josue and The Guys, I felt completely safe and when I found that ‘sweet spot’ on the wave, I fell in love with the experience. Now I am taking swimming lesson and re-crafting my life to spend more time on the water! We will be back – again and again – Next time we will have Tranquilo show us the Marietas Islands and take us whale watching!
We highly recommend Tranquilo Surf. We were in Sayulita but drove to Punta de Mita daily because of the reputation of Tranquilo Surf. The water was warm and clear, and the waves were perfect. The instructors had our whole family of beginners up and surfing with confidence on the first day.
Josué, Isaac and Shano were fantastic. They taught with humor, patience and clear communication. It was great fun to be with them.
We also took a trip with them to las Islas Marietas. Just like with surfing they made it educational and simultaneously fun and entertaining.
I have been surfing since age 7. I have surfed at many different places around the world, and every time I go on a surf trip I hire a coach or a guide to learn the ins and outs of the place, be safe and not waste time searching for a good spot.
But when booking online, we never know what kind of people we may be dealing with. Are they good and reliable or just out to take your money? Josue has an amazing work ethic, is extremely honest and undercharges for what he delivers. (No wonder all stars and celebrities that come to Punta Mita hire him.)
I have now been to Punta Mita many times, and used Tranquilo Surf every single time.
Whether it was knee to overhead high, I always surfed the best spots. On top of that Josue and Isaac surf coaching really helped improve my technique and have more fun!
My wife who had never surfed and is not a strong swimmer decided to have a lesson and had a blast! She also was very impressed on how respectful Josue was.
I can’t wait to get back to Punta Mita and get my 7 year-old son to take his first lesson!
You cannot go wrong with Tranquilo surf.
